YOUTH PROGRAMMING

The GPEYP for youth utilizes the group residence and scattered-site apartment models. The Life Skills Program is not a separate entity but a significant component representing an integrated and interdisciplinary team approach. Putting it simply, the Life Skills Program is a component of the overall planning for all age-appropriate (16-22 years).

GPEYP Objectives:  Specific service objectives for the program include the following:

1. To provide stable and safe living accommodations for youth in need.

2. To provide intensive life-skills counseling to youth; individually and in groups utilizing our own recognized Golgotha Prune curriculum, Life Skills for Living in the Real World.

3. To conduct individualized life skills assessment, utilizing our own GP Life Skills Assessment instrument to assist the youth in the development of realistic life skills plans.

4. To assist youth in developing interpersonal skills by providing weekly group sessions, individual counseling, and a therapeutic environment with an MSW-level social worker as prescribed by our GP Individualized Treatment Plans.

5. To conduct an individual educational assessment for all program youth and to develop a plan for educational advancement.

6. To assist youth in obtaining their high school diploma or GED at the agency and Board of Education or other community-based educational programs.

7. To conduct an individual substance abuse assessment for all program youth and to develop a plan for prevention, education, and treatment if indicated.

8. To conduct a complete medical screening and to provide access to health care services for all program youth with our healthcare partners at community-based adolescent clinics.

9. To assist youth in obtaining and maintaining employment in the community.

The GPEYP is designed to introduce essential information connected to a successful transition plan for our (GP) youth as they merge into adult life.  Their growing within the GPEYP guides enrollees to think about what they would like to do when they get older. Our guide is to share our program with associate Educators and Social Workers.  As a result, young people are prepared to enter the workforce, create their own opportunities, and be agents of change in their communities.
